The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office, organized a Media Connect programme on Wednesday at the Western Regional Laboratory, Andheri (East), Mumbai, as part of the celebrations for World Standards Day 2025 and the upcoming Dhanteras & Diwali festival. Pinaki Gupta, Scientist-E/Director & Head, BIS Mumbai Branch Office emphasized the importance of standards in ensuring safety, quality, and sustainability. Mahendra Singh Jakkar, Scientist-E/Director, briefed the media about BIS activities including standard formulation, product certification, hallmarking, and recent Quality Control Orders for consumer protection. Dr. Anil Kapri, Scientist-E/Director & Head, Western Regional Laboratory, explained the testing of ISI-marked products and led a tour of the laboratory facilities, including the Assaying & Hallmarking Lab, where participants observed gold and silver testing demonstrations.
