Indore (Madhya Pradesh): At some point in life, we all hit pause - drifting without purpose, action, or clarity. In those foggy moments, we yearn for a guiding light.
That's exactly what Ikigai, co-authored by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles, offers: a gentle nudge toward finding meaning.
Bookworm's Nook | Think Straight - A Recipe Of Taking Control Over Your LifeThe book shares the well-kept secrets of living a long, joyful, and deeply fulfilling life, inspired by Japan's centenarians. It's not just theory- it's a blend of real stories, scientific research, and simple practices that make a big impact.
"Get out of your house and explore the world. Meet new people. Ikigai is not going to find you on the sofa or in your cellphone," Miralles told The Free Press in an exclusive chat.
From exploring how stress damages our bodies to showcasing the healing effects of mindfulness and movement, each chapter feels like a wellness guide in your back pocket.
One standout section dives into the daily habits and life lessons of some of the world's oldest people - authentic, humble, and eye-opening.
By the final page, you won't just understand Ikigai - you'll feel drawn to seek your own. And maybe, just maybe, start living with a little more intention.

Q - How important can this book be for people, specially youngsters, battling with their mental health?
A - It can be very powerful, since there is a direct relationship between personal purpose and self-esteem.
Q - In today's competitive world and amidst the chaos of hustle, is it really possible to pause and find your 'Ikigai'?
A - Of course, since it’s an internal compass. It doesn’t depend on external circumstances.
Q - While Ikigai is a concept related to longevity, there are people out there who are very vocal about not wanting a long life (including celebrities). What's your take on that?
A - I think that quality is more important that quantity. No matter if you live 100 years if you don’t have a passion and a clear purpose.
Q - Misconceptions about Ikigai that you'd like to bunk?
A - Once discovered, it doesn’t usually last forever. You’ll have to find a new one every 6-7 years. Everytime you change, your ikigai changes.
Q - Message for your readers?
A - Follow your passions!
