Mumbai News: Robbery At City Cop's Residence In Worli, Mangalsutra & 2 Mobiles Stolen; 2 Suspects Identified

Mumbai: A case of robbery at a Mumbai cop's residence in Worli has come to light on Friday. The burglary reportedly took place at the residence of a police constable in the Dairy Workers' Colony. Two local youths are under suspicion for allegedly breaking into the house and fleeing with valuables, including a gold mangalsutra and two mobile phones, worth a total of approximately Rs 40,000.

The victim, 45-year-old Pramod Vishwanath Kamble, is a police constable posted at the Armed Police Branch in Naigaon since 2010. Due to ongoing repair work at his official quarters, Kamble and his family are currently residing in a temporary government accommodation on Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Road in Worli.

Details On The Robbery

According to a Lokmat Times report, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 17. Kamble, his wife, had left for a family function in Vashi on the night of April 16. The family returned late at night and went to bed around 1 am, with their mobile phones placed next to them. Kamble's wife slept leaving her gold mangalsutra secured in a drawer.

At approximately 2:45 am, Kamble was startled awake by an unusual sound. On checking the room, he spotted two individuals, identified as local residents Akku alias Hussain Sajid Khan (22) and Arif alias Sonu Mohammad Abbas Sheikh (32), inside the house. The moment they noticed him, the suspects fled. Kamble and his family attempted to pursue them, but the duo escaped into the darkness.

What Was Stolen From The House?

Upon inspection, Kamble found that the gold mangalsutra, weighing 5 grams and valued at Rs 25,000, was missing. In addition, two mobile phones, a Redmi Note 10T worth Rs 10,000 and a Poco C50 priced at Rs 5,000, were also stolen. The total estimated value of the stolen items is around Rs 40,000.

According to Kamble, the burglars had removed the glass from a window to gain entry into the house while the family was asleep. He has filed an official complaint at the Worli Police Station and demanded strict action against the accused.

The Worli police have launched an investigation and are currently tracing the suspects’ whereabouts. They are also verifying any previous records or complaints linked to the two accused youths.
