Jaisalmer: A Rajasthan state government employee, who was detained in Jaisalmer on suspicion of spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), had a link with a former minister in the ex-Congres-led state government.

Reportedly, the 'spy' Shakur Khan was working as a personal assistant to former minister Shale Mohammad under the Congress government in Rajasthan.

During the previous government, Khan used to frequently visit Mohammad's father, Ghazi Fakir. Reportedly, officials said that it would be premature to link Mohammad with the espionage case.

Reacting to the accused's link with Congress leader, BJP IT Cell chief, Amit Malviya took to micro-blogging website X and said,"Pakistan worship is in the blood of Congress."

"Strong evidence has been found against Shakoor Khan, personal assistant of former Congress minister Saleh Mohammad in Rajasthan, for spying for Pakistan's ISI. He used to share confidential information of border areas with Pakistani officials. Shakoor Khan is a government employee and has visited Pakistan several times without informing the government. Pakistan-worship is in the blood of Congress," he said on X.

49-year-old Khan is likely to be taken to the Central Investigation Centre in Jaipur for further questioning in the matter. Shakur Khan was detained on Wednesday night by an intelligence department team who were acting on security-related inputs.

Reportedly, he also admitted that he had travelled to Pakistan at least seven times in recent years.
