Kolkata: National Commission of Women (NCW) on Monday had reached Kaliganj in Nadia district, where a 10-year-old girl Tamanna Khatoon died on June 23 due to bombing by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers to celebrate their win in the bypoll.
Talking to the media, mother of the deceased girl said that if action is not taken against those who are behind the incident then Tammana’s family will sit for ‘hunger strike’ in front of the police station.

“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not doing anything. We plead to arrest everyone who is responsible for my daughter’s death. If action is not taken immediately then Tamanna’s entire family will go on a hunger strike,” said Tamanna’s mother.
Archana Majumdar, member of NCW said that the crime spot should be kept ‘cordoned’.
“Anyone can come anytime to collect samples from the crime spot. If it is not cordoned off then the evidence can be spoiled,” said Archana.

Last week, Tamanna’s parents visited Calcutta High Court and met senior lawyer and CPI (M) leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya to seek legal advice due to the slow progress of police action.
