In the world of IPL 2025, two players named Dubey were given a shot at heroism, but both missed their big moments, leaving their respective teams out of the playoff race. The IPL's familiar saying "Chaubey ji went to become Chhabe ji, but became Dubey ji" aptly applies here, with both Dubeys facing similar situations but failing to seize the opportunity.
Two Dubeys, Two Opportunities, Same Result
The two Dubeys in question are Shivam Dubey of Chennai Super Kings, who was retained for a hefty 12 crores, and Shubham Dubey of Rajasthan Royals, who was bought for 80 lakhs. Both players were given the same challenge: to score 13 runs in the final 3 balls of their respective matches.
On May 3, Shivam Dubey had the chance to win the match for CSK against RCB by scoring 13 runs off the last 3 balls. Just 24 hours later, on May 4, Shubham Dubey was in a similar position for Rajasthan Royals against KKR. However, neither Dubey could deliver, and both teams suffered losses as a result.
The Playoff Dreams Dashed for Both Teams
Unfortunately for both players, their missed opportunities have led to their teams being eliminated from the playoff race. Shivam Dubey's Chennai Super Kings became the first team to bow out, and the very next day, Rajasthan Royals followed suit.
