BBC Countryfile's Sean Fletcher announces sad news as guest living with life-changing condition

Countryfile presenter Sean Fletcher shared some devastating news during the latest episode of the BBC special.

This autumn, Countryfile's presenters, Matt Baker, Anita Rani, Sean Fletcher, and John Craven, encountered some remarkable young individuals whose lives have been transformed through BBC Children in Need.

Whilst discovering the boundary between Shropshire and Staffordshire, the youngsters opened up about their incredible journeys during their walking challenges.

Throughout the show, Sean encountered Grace, a young carer looking after her sister, Erin. During the feature, it was also disclosed that Grace's mum battles a chronic condition.

Sean revealed, "Grace cares for her twin sister, Erin. At seven years old, Erin was diagnosed with absent seizures, which has led her to needing extra support from her sister at home and at school," reports the Express.

Grace revealed, "We have a set routine. Every single day. We wake up about seven o'clock, I help Erin get up, and then I go downstairs, make her breakfast, and then kind of just make sure she's dressed and ready for school."

Whilst embarking on their trek, Sean encouraged Grace to describe her sister. The teenager informed the host, "When she has seizures, she kind of goes into her wall, so she can't see anything, she can't hear us.

"I'm just trying to keep calm. But I'm also crying on the inside because I'm witnessing that in front of my eyes."

Grace continued to describe how her sister has experienced eight seizures in four weeks, which is "pretty scary". Sean revealed in the voiceover that Erin wasn't the only person Grace was looking after.

He explained, "In 2022, her mum, Kate, suffered a life-changing injury."

The footage then switched to Kate, who revealed, "I had an accident, and I bashed my head, and then things progressively got worse. I couldn't talk, I couldn't walk."

Kate received a diagnosis for a permanent condition that impacts her balance and causes crippling exhaustion. Kate went on, "Every day has been a challenge. Grace has to step in. She's just had to become an adult within days."

Grace revealed, "It affects me when my mum's having a bad day, because I kind of don't have my wing men to help me, especially when I come home from school. I've had a busy day. I just kind of want to lie down, but I know I need to help my sister."
