ITV Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd's 'true fate revealed' – and it's not looking good

Send Push

In a shock twist on tonight's Emmerdale, it was revealed that Mackenzie Boyd was alive after all, following an attack by John Sugden.

Harrowing scenes which aired earlier this month saw villain John shoot Mack with a bow and arrow, and slamming him over the head with a giant rock. Fans thought he was a goner, but tonight it was revealed he'd actually survived the attack.

In the episode, fans watched on as John headed to the woods moving the leaves that we thought were covering Mack's body. However, in a shock twist it was revealed that there was a secret door. As John headed down the stairs, to fans' surprise, Mack was lying there, alive!

He wasn't in a good state though, as he was seen lying on the ground, heavily breathing, visibly in a lot of pain. The episode then came to a dramatic end for the week, with no further information given. Although fans were overjoyed with the fact Mack survived, others don't think he'll survive for much longer

However, fans don't think Mack's luck will last long, with many thinking he'll die at a later date. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: "What if Mack is alive today but will die later on screen?" with another responding: "Give it time."

A third comment read: "that was the first thing that came to my mind when i saw mack alive," while another user agreed: "There's still hope that Mackenzie will still be dead after all this."

But will Mack stay alive? And if so - will he be able to return to the Dales and reveal all about John? Viewers have been left with a number of unanswered questions, which we're sure will be answered in due course.

However, now we know that Mack is alive at the moment, fans are hoping to see a huge change in the character's life, with many calling for the soap to 'get rid' of his relationship with Charity.

"If I had one wish it would be that Mack and Charity never get back together and I’m being so fr I don’t care if they want to keep Mack on the show or if they don’t reunite Vanity at this point, just don’t put Mack and Charity back together I’m begging," tweeted one fan.

Another agreed: "I don’t mind Mack staying, I can accept Vanity never coming back (even if it makes me sad), but PLEASE NO MORE of Mack & Charity together."

When John attacked Mack, he sent Charity a message from his phone - pretending to be Mack and saying the marriage was over.

"I'm so sorry, Charity, but I can't do this. It's over," the text read. "Please respect my decision, it's best for both of us. I'm done fighting so I'm turning my phone off now. I'm sorry - M."

How will things pan out?
