A man has died following a horror forklift at a major port this afternoon. Emergency services raced to the Port of Liverpool this morning following reports that a man was involved in an accident at Seaforth Docks around 10am.
The 63-year-old man was sadly confirmed dead by after officers arrived, and his next of kin has since been informed. All operations were suspended at the port following the shock death, with a joint investigation being carried out by Merseyside Police detectives and their counterparts at the Health and Safety Executive, with port authorities moving quickly to care for the man's colleagues.
Merseyside Police said in a statement that a family liaison officer has been provided to help support the man's family.

The force said: "We can sadly confirm that a 63-year-old man has died following an industrial incident at Seaforth Docks earlier today, Wednesday 30 April.
"At around 10.15am, emergency services were called to the docks following reports that the man had been involved in an incident with a fork lift truck. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"A joint investigation into the circumstances of his death will be carried out by detectives at Merseyside Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
"The man’s next of kin has been informed and a family liaison officer will provide them with support at this difficult time."
A spokesperson for Peel Ports said in a statement earlier this afternoon that it would ne "managing the safety and welfare of all colleagues" following today's accident.
They said: "We can confirm we are dealing with a serious incident at the Port of Liverpool. The emergency services are on site and all operations at the location have been suspended until further notice.
"Our priority at this stage is ensuring that the emergency services can assist with the incident, along with managing the safety and welfare of all colleagues. We will provide further updates when we are able to do so."
