Chester Racecourse hosted its yearly Powells Jewellery Ladies Day on Saturday (August 30). Hundreds of women flocked to the event dressed to the nines, hoping to scoop the Best Dressed Competition whilst enjoying the racing action, and despite the wet weather, most punters had a brilliant day out.
However, one woman has turned to TikTok to recount her ordeal at Chester Racesthrough floods of tears. She revealed she felt "humiliated" by numerous racegoers who branded her appearance "stupid" in the gown she'd chosen. The woman was spotted weeping during her heartfelt video as she described how people had "pointed and laughed" at her repeatedly throughout the afternoon.
She said: "To all the people at Chester Races who have told me I look stupid, who have pointed and laughed at me. Not only who have pointed and laughed at me, but also to the girl and boy who came up to me and said I look stupid."

The woman had chosen a stunning pale blue wedding gown for the Ladies Day occasion, and whilst that might seem an unusual pick to most folk, she had a touching reason for her decision.
She revealed that people didn't bother asking why she was sporting a wedding dress so they could discover the real significance behind her ensemble, but instead jumped straight to ridiculing her and branding her "stupid".
The woman went on: "I'm wearing this wedding dress as someone who was trying to empower themselves after being dumped four months before the wedding. This was always going to be my hen do. So I decided for the hen do to wear my wedding dress, because I bought her to wear her.
"I didn't expect to get here and have people make a beeline for me to tell me I look stupid. For people to laugh and point at me, and then for me to be in a queue behind people [who were saying] 'Someone needs to tell her she looks ridiculous'.
"Why would you do that? Why wouldn't you just build somebody up? Even without knowing the story of why I'm wearing the dress, why would you even go to somebody to tell them they look stupid? Even if I wasn't dressed like this, anybody coming to me to tell me I look stupid would not be nice."
Users responding to the woman's clip rushed to her defence, suggesting those who mocked her were probably "insecure" about themselves. Others declared they would have stood up for her had they witnessed the cruel behaviour at the races.
One supporter commented: "I wish I were there. I would defend you even if I had never met you before! You can wear whatever you want, wherever you want, just because they don't agree doesn't give them the right to be awful people."
A second person chimed in: "Darling, do not listen to a word they say. You look fabulous, and don't let them dull your sparkle. I hope you had the best day, regardless of the horrible people."
A racecourse worker even chimed in, saying: "I work at Chester Races. I saw you yesterday and you looked absolutely stunning!"
Some questioned why her mates didn't stick up for her, but in a follow-up video, the woman shared a snap of her hen do and said they had done nothing but "build her up" all day.
She explained that the incident in the queue happened when she was on her own, so her pals weren't there to back her up.
