'Best' British series of 21st Century that's available to stream for 17 million

A collection of viewer reviews has revealed which British TV series of the 21st Century is a favourite among viewers. There have been some stellar British TV shows produced over the past couple of decades, from addictive ITV dramas to Netflix smash hits created by some of the world's most talented writers. One seems to be the best of the bunch, according to a collation of reviews from those who have seen it.

A list by movie and TV show review site IMDb reveals that one British TV show stands out among the rest when it comes to the very best to have been made in the 21st Century. It is a smash hit Netflix show that is loved by viewers across the globe and has garnered somewhat of a cult following since its initial release only a few years ago. That series is The Witcher, a fantasy show that fans have grown to love.

The Witcher, currently starring Liam Hemsworth in a role originally played by Henry Cavill, is based on a series of books of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Much like the novels, of which there are eight, the series follows a character named a monster-hunting mercenary named Geralt of Rivia.

His destiny becomes linked to that of a sorceress named Yennefer and a young princess named Ciri in a medieval-inspired world known as the Continent. The story follows the three of them as they navigate this world where both monsters and people can be as evil as each other.

Esteemed British actor Henry Cavill originated the role when it first aired on Netflix in 2019. It also stars familiar British faces such as Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen. Reviews for The Witcher show how much it has become a beloved show not just for British TV viewers but for fans across the globe.

One online review says of the show: "Took me a minute to figure out what the heck was going on, but once I did, I started over from the beginning and I loved it. Great acting, plot, character building, love to fight scenes. Can't say enough good things."
