A guru has detailed a few of her favourite tips, including one she described as the "secret" to keeping your home dust-free. Chantel Mila, known on as Mama Mila, shared some of her favourite that keep her house in tip top shape.
Dust can be a common occurrence in homes, forming from a variety of sources, either naturally or by humans. Airborne particles accumulate over time leaving surfaces covered in a layer of dust. These particles include things like dead skin cells, soil, pet dander, and even microscopic bits of plastic.
But to keep dust from forming quickly again, Chantel uses a remedy which anyone can make at home. Some benefits include not needing any commercial chemicals or the need for scrubbing like mad.
How to your home dust-freeChantel used a simple solution made from three ingredients you can easily find in your home. She instructed to mix one cup of water, a quarter cup of and a few drops of lemon oil.
Add the solution to a spray bottle, spraying on any surfaces around the house. Follow with a microfibre cloth to wipe away the dust.
Adding white vinegar to your cleaning solution is helpful due to its level of acidity - as well its acetic acid content - helps dissolve any dirt, grease and grime. It can also help to kill bacteria on surfaces.
While it doesn't get rid of dust altogether - as that's near impossible - it makes it easier to remove when it does settle, and helps keep surfaces cleaner for longer. The addition of lemon oil, or any essential oil of your choice, will help your home stay fresh.
Zara Stacey from used a similar solution to repel dust in her home, with the addition of washing up liquid and olive oil. She wrote: "Of course, nothing can completely eliminate dust from the home - that is something I am just going to have to accept.
"However, my friend's DIY homemade cleaning spray has meant less dust is accumulating between cleans. I've found all sorts of surfaces have stayed looking clean for longer and that when I do come to clean again there's less to deal with, which has been a real time-saver. There is still dust on the floor, of course, but it's nothing a quick vacuum can't sort.
"My verdict? Anything that can make the surfaces that little bit cleaner for longer is a win."
