Wearing a specific colour can influence the outcome of certain events, such as a job interview or a date, a new study has revealed. From getting a pay rise to landing your dream role, sporting a certain colour in each of those situations is said to have a higher success rate, research by shows.
Wearing light blue to a job interview resulted in over a quarter of Brits getting the job of their dreams. The survey also unveiled that wearing light blue on a with their now lifelong partner resulted in the happy-ever-after they were looking for. For those wanting a pay rise, the lucky colour to wear is orange while more than one in ten claim they nailed a presentation at work because they were wearing yellow.

Hoping for a proposal and searching for a dream home have also been influenced by wearing a certain colour, according to superstitious Brits.
Fashion Psychologist Shakaila Forbes-Bell in collaboration with Lakeside Shopping Centre, explained the impact of colour on daily life. She said: "Colour psychology plays a huge role in how we are perceived by others and how we feel about ourselves. The practice teaches us that the mind/body relationship is incredibly dynamic when it comes to colour.
Long wavelength colours like red, orange, gold or yellow activate our sympathetic system, making us feel more sociable, extraverted and energetic. In contrast, short-wavelength colours like blue, indigo and violet activate the parasympathetic system, making us feel relaxed, pensive and mediative.
Our wardrobe choices, therefore, empower us to approach opportunities and relationships, with a different mindset, so it's worth considering the power of colour when making key life decisions."
39% of Brits surveyed agree that different colours help create a strong first impression, with 71 percent thinking it's vital to make a positive lasting effect.
