A legendary red telephone box has gone up for sale in London - and it might just be the capital's most affordable property. The Grade II-listed structure, situated in Winchmore Hill, north London, is being offered for £10,000.
Estate agents Strettons suggest the building could serve advertising purposes, or be transformed into various enterprises such as a cafe or art space. The auction house is simultaneously offering four telephone boxes for a collective £28,000 in central Enfield, north London.
Both properties are scheduled for auction on Thursday, 11 September at 12:00 pm, with Strettons reporting considerable early interest.
Surveyor Robert Woolfe commented: "These telephone boxes represent an iconic symbol of British history and are well known for their classic appearance.
"Both lots are well located in popular areas and may suit a variety of potential uses (subject to planning) such as advertising, coffee shop, ice cream, florist, vending machine or even a mini art gallery!".
"Both lots are proving popular since being recently launched, and it will be exciting to see what happens at the Auction."
