A cordon was in place with a huge police presence after a triple stabbing left a man fighting for his life. Three men were rushed to Salford Royal Hospital with stab wounds after the incident at 2:30am on Monday morning.
One man was in critical condition while the other two were discharged but remain in police custody. Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "Officers responded to reports of people fighting with knives on Cobden Street in Salford at 2:45am this morning (Monday, May 26, 2025). Two men were taken to hospital with stab wounds.
"One male suffered a minor injury, but the other male suffered a serious injury and is in a critical condition. Three men - aged 27, 31, 33 - have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

"They remain in police custody. A scene remains in place while officers conduct their enquiries. This is an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community."
A scene remained in place throughout Monday morning, with a blue forensics tent put up within the cordon and a large number of officers on site, (MEN)reports.
It comes after police were temporarily granted extra stop and search powers in parts of Manchester in the wake of two unrelated incidents on Friday and Saturday.
Announcing the 24-hour measure on Saturday night, Greater Manchester Police said the move came after "two separate assaults where a knife or sharp instrument was allegedly used in the last 24 hours".
The force said: "On Friday 23 May at around 8pm, we were called to reports of a man aged 24 presenting with stab wounds at A&E following an alleged assault on Moss Lane East, Moss Side.
"He is being treated for serious injuries, not believed to be life threatening. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
Then on Saturday evening at around 5pm the force were called to a "disturbance" on Stockport Road, Longsight.
"Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a man and boy aged 18 and 17 with stab wounds," the force said. "Both were taken to hospital where they remain with serious injuries, not believed to be life threatening.
"A short while later, a large sheath was handed over to police by a member of the public on Lauderdale Crescent.
"Three men, all aged 18, have been arrested on suspicion of affray in relation to this incident and have been taken into custody for questioning," GMP said at the time.
The section 60 order, gave officers "extended powers to stop and search individuals" and was put in place for 24 hours from 6pm on Saturday in the area of Stockport Road, (at the Asda junction), Upper Brook Street, Princess Road, Platt Lane, and Dickenson Road.
Since the announcement, police were also called on Monday at 2.50pm to reports of a stabbing on Ashton Road in Droylsden, where a man, 25, was found with life-threatening stab wounds and rushed to hospital, as per MEN.
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for an update on these three separate incidents, as well as the one that occurred today.
