Prince William reportedly saw "right through" Meghan Markle's 'plan' when marrying Prince Harry, a royal expert has claimed. Sally Bedell Smith, who spoke to the former monarch's cousin Lady Elizabeth Anson before her death, claimed on her Substack recently that she was told by Lady Elizabeth that the late Queen was concerned about the 2018 wedding and what Meghan's intentions were.
This reportedly mirrors the concerns held by William, 43, with royal expert Phil Dampier telling The Sun's Royal Exclusive Show that the future King was reportedly sceptical about Meghan from very early on. Mr Dampier said: "I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I've been saying or thought for the last few years that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the Royal Family.
"She saw [it] as a stepping stone getting married to Harry... to new fame and fortune. And I think that's what initially Prince William was concerned about. And that's why they fell out. And now we are where we are."
