A must-watch WWII mini-series is currently available for streaming, and television enthusiasts simply cannot let this gem slip by.
The compelling drama debuted in 2019, boasting a stellar ensemble cast alongside breathtaking special effects.
One glowing 10/10 IMDb review declared: "Fantastic. The entire cast of this series is amazing. It has all the drama and humor but not as slap stick as the movie. I've been glued to the TV since it was released.
"You will fall in love with these characters and the actors who portray them."
A second viewer proclaimed: "Wonderful rendering of the classic satirical novel."
They elaborated: "This is a very enjoyable watch, especially if you read the book and saw the movie way back when they were "a thing. " The acting is superb and the battle scenes are realistic but not too graphically violent.
"I appreciate a director and writer who do not feel they must gross us out at every turn.
"It has a nice subtlety and that was lacking in the original movie."
Another critique hailed it as: "One of the greatest books ever written, certainly as an anti-war film."
The reviewer went on to commend the leading performance: "His face is so emotive and he captured the complexity of his character."
They added: "For those of you who totally missed the point and were expecting a regular war movie, did you get what the title means?".
A fourth fan branded it "a must watch" and revealed: "Perfect mix of comedy and drama. Made me laugh one second and get emotional the next."
The Hulu series Catch-22, which first graced our screens in 2019, is an adaptation of Joseph Heller's esteemed 1961 novel bearing the same title.
Mirroring its literary counterpart, Catch-22 chronicles the experiences of Captain John Yossarian (portrayed by Christopher Abbott) and his fellow airmen during World War II as they fulfil their obligations to their nation.
Their discharge hinges on completing a specified number of missions. However, just as they near their release, the mission count is invariably increased, plunging them back into peril.
The term Catch-22 encapsulates Yossarian's futile attempts to extricate himself from the frontline by feigning insanity, only to realise that those genuinely unhinged will persist with their missions.
The cast also includes George Clooney as Scheisskopf, Emmy winner and Argo star Kyle Chandler as Colonel Cathcart, Rafi Gavron from Godfather of Harlem as Aarfy, Daniel David Stewart from Reacher as Milo, and Graham Patrick Martin from Major Crimes as Orr, among others.
In addition to his role in Catch-22, Clooney directed two episodes of the six-part series and served as an executive producer.
This 2019 rendition of Catch-22 follows a 1970 film adaptation, with the recent TV series earning an 84 percent fresh rating from critics and an 82 percent approval rating from audiences.
Catch-22 is streaming on Prime Video and Apple TV+ for a fee now
