Jaisalmer: A woman appearing in the 12th-grade Rajasthan State Open School (RSOS) exam as a dummy candidate for her aunt at a school in Barmer city was caught in the act and detained Thursday.
An invigilator at the exam centre at Ramubai Ganeshmal Golecha Higher Secondary School caught Deu, the daughter of Ruparam and resident of Ratasar, after getting suspicious. Deu had by then taken the exam for two papers of sociology. The centre superintendent, Shobha Dave, informed police, and a case was registered and an investigation began. The district education officer (DEO), Krishansingh Ranigaon, arrived on the scene after getting information.
Police said Deu had taken the exam for her aunt, Tugidevi, wife of Dungararam, resident of Dugeron ka Tala. The invigilator got suspicious after noticing a younger-looking woman sitting for the exam with an identity card that has the photo of one who looked older. Deu's Aadhaar card and other details were checked, revealing her as a dummy. Dave informed police and filed a case.
As many as 20 dummy candidates were caught in the RSOS exam in Barmer last year, putting the district already under scrutiny. RSOS has formed two flying squads for each district and two at the state level, said officials.
