Send Push
Kathak exponent Tanni Choudhury is bringing together an extraordinary ensemble of maestros for The Sojourn – The Story at Heaven, a unique cultural evening to be held on 24 April, 6.30pm onwards at GD Birla Sabhagar. It will mark a heartfelt tribute to her gurus vidushi Amita Dutta and guru Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee while also celebrating the Bengali New Year with a stellar line-up including Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Pt Tarun Bhattacharya on santoor and Padma Shri Pt Ronu Majumdar on flute, both of whom are set to share the stage with Tanni and Kathak stalwart Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee, who performs to mark his diamond jubilee year, with narration by noted multidisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee tying the evening together.
imageCalling it a “reincarnation of all that is past and present,” Tanni reflects on three uninterrupted decades in Kathak and a journey shaped by the dualities of soul and stage, saying, “We are all split souls... our dreams oscillate between the mundane and the magnificent — I always opt for the latter,” as she crafts this evening of movement, melody, and memory into a tribute that promises to be both personal and profound.
