It is also believed that bathing in the sacred Ganga river cleanses the body, mind, and soul and relieves people of all negative emotions.

Ganga Dussehra 2025: Puja Vidhi
Devotees visit holy places like Haridwar, Prayagraj, Rishikesh and they take bathe in the sacred Ganga river. After praying to Lord Surya, they offer prayers to Gang Maiya by presenting her with flowers, sweets, and even clothing. Devotees come again to the Ganga Ghats in the evening to execute the deep daan ceremony and ignite a diya with desi ghee. To honor the Goddess, devotees take part in Ganga aarti which is performed in evening time and decorate Ganga Ghats with diyas.
