John Cena won his record 17th WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 41 against Cody Rhodes . Now, the Hollywood superstar and WWE legend is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Title against his favorite rival and arch nemesis, the “Viper” Randy Orton at WWE Backlash . It will be the first PLE after WrestleMania, which is set to take place at St. Louis, Missouri. While the world is astonished to see the vile and villainous side of John, it would be better in the long-term, if the “Fast & Furious 9” star manages to defend the World Championship at the Enterprise Centre at St. Louis. It may not be a hugely popular result, but would serve the WWE right going ahead.
Here are three reasons why John should retain his WWE Title at Backlash
1. Randy Orton is not the same as a decade ago
2. Only Cody Rhodes should take the title away from Cena
3. The fans are actually on Cena’s side
Although Cena defeated Cody at WrestleMania deceitfully, with the help of the WWE Title, the fans were actually happy with the “Champ” winning the Championship. The fans were heard saying “Thank you Cena” at the end of that match and even when Cena showed up on RAW after WrestleMania, the audience present there were heard cheering him. That’s why it would be apt to keep this engagement towards Cena going and not take the coveted WWE Championship from him.
Here are three reasons why John should retain his WWE Title at Backlash
1. Randy Orton is not the same as a decade ago
Randy and John have enjoyed a world famous rivalry back in the day, starting in the mid 2000’s till the late 2010’s. It was the perfect ‘good guy vs the bad guy’ storyline for the WWE, which served the audience multiple humdinger’s and mouth watering contests over two decades. Now while Cena has turned “Heel”(much to everyone’s surprise) Randy Orton has become the “good guy” who is also the best friend of Cody Rhodes, who Cena defeated at WrestleMania deceitfully. But Orton is not the same ‘Viper’ as he was a decade ago, and age and injuries have indeed caught up with him marginally if not fully. Giving him the Undisputed WWE Title after Cena having done the unthinkable at WrestleMania, would not be befitting for the WWE Universe. Also, Cena having the Title for less than a month would make it an incomplete storyline.JOHN CENA WINS HIS 17TH WORLD TITLE AT WRESTLEMANIA 41 pic.twitter.com/Fja80qxMGe

2. Only Cody Rhodes should take the title away from Cena
The “American Nightmare” Cody was defeated in one of the shocks of the decade by John in the main event of WrestleMania 41. Now, if Cena loses the Title to Randy, it would not only be an incomplete storyline, it would also belittle the humongous upset that was delivered at the grandest stage of WWE. If anyone, it has to be the American Nightmare who dethrones Cena from the Undisputed WWE Title to make it worth Cena’s last year in WWE.Cody Rhodes Reportedly Taking Time Off Following WrestleMania 41 Loss https://t.co/29IJ0RNVzt
