INDIA bloc leaders to meet virtually on July 19: Political situation on agenda; opposition coordination set to continue

NEW DELHI: Leaders of the INDIA bloc will meet on Saturday, July 19, 2025, to discuss the prevailing political situation ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament. Congress general secretary K C Venugopal said the meeting will take place online at 7 pm.

However, as per RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav , the bloc will also hold an in-person meeting at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge ’s residence in Delhi on the same day.

“INDIA bloc will hold a meeting at Kharge sahab's residence in Delhi on 19th July, RJD will participate in that,” Yadav said at a press conference in Patna.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut confirmed his party’s participation, saying that July 19 suits them for the meeting. “Yesterday, we got a call from K C Venugopal Ji… Uddhav Thackeray Ji says that there is a need for a meeting of INDIA bloc. We have picked the date of July 19,” Raut said in Mumbai.

The upcoming Monsoon session, starting July 21, is expected to witness confrontations between the ruling BJP and the Congress-led INDIA bloc across 21 sittings until August 21.

The Opposition is preparing to raise issues including the Election Commission’s Special Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump’s mediation claims, and the demand for restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s full statehood.

Additionally, Congress is expected to focus on farmers’ issues, unemployment, women’s safety, and the recent Ahmedabad air crash.

An all-party meeting called by the government is likely to be held on Sunday, two days ahead of the session’s start.
