NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with secretaries of various ministries and departments to review national preparedness and inter-ministerial coordination in the wake of heightened security concerns following India’s recent counter-terror operation.
The meeting comes in the aftermath of ' Operation Sindoor ', India’s major military response to the April 22 Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 civilian lives. As part of the operation, Indian armed forces targeted nine terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during pre-dawn strikes on Wednesday.
During the review, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the importance of seamless coordination between ministries and agencies to ensure operational continuity and institutional resilience in the face of emerging threats.
PM called for a proactive and unified “Whole of Government” approach to strengthen national preparedness.
Secretaries were directed to undertake a comprehensive review of their ministry’s operations, with particular focus on emergency response mechanisms , internal communication protocols, and the uninterrupted functioning of critical systems.
Each ministry has identified specific action points and is enhancing its internal processes to meet the demands of the evolving situation.
Officials present in the meeting briefed the Prime Minister on their plans and preparedness, assuring readiness to manage any contingency that may arise from the current security environment.
