Latur (Maharashtra): A 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide while livestreaming the act on Facebook in Maharashtra's Latur district, officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to available details, Bharat Balaji Sagave, a Mumbai resident for many years, recorded the video around 12:30 pm on Saturday while seating under a mango tree near Limbotkar petrol pump in Nilanga city.
During the broadcast, Sagave identified himself as Suraj Balaji Sagave and declared: "I am taking my own life. I have listed the reasons for this step in the suicide note. My last wish is that those responsible for my death and my wife's death should be given the strictest punishment."
He then proceeded to stab himself in the chest.
Relatives attempting to intervene during the livestream found his phone switched off. Sagave was later discovered seriously injured near the petrol pump and rushed to Latur's Sahyadri Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police stated the precise reasons behind the extreme step were being investigated.
