Patna, April 24, 2025 — Bihar is currently experiencing a sharp surge in temperatures following a brief spell of pre-summer rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for the next 2–3 days, especially across northern and central regions of the state. A shift in weather patterns is expected to bring thunderstorms and rainfall from April 26 onward, according to the latest forecast.
Heatwave Alert Issued Across Key DistrictsThe past four days have witnessed rising temperatures and dry westerly winds, contributing to severe heat conditions. IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for East Champaran, West Champaran, Sheohar, and Gopalganj, warning of heatwave-like conditions.
Additionally, maximum temperatures are forecasted to rise by 1–3°C over the next 72 hours. The capital city Patna, along with 17 other cities including Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nawada, Begusarai, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, and Banka, is likely to experience dry weather and extreme heat.
Weather Shift Expected from April 26Relief may be in sight for Bihar’s residents as a significant weather change is expected from April 26. The IMD has issued alerts for thunderstorms, rainfall, and lightning, starting from that date.
