Agra: A 36-year-old female autorickshaw driver from Agra was allegedly gang-raped by two men who posed as "Army jawans" and promised to help secure her daughter's admission to a military school. The accused are on the run and multiple teams have been formed to arrest them, police said on Saturday.
The survivor told the cops that she was invited to a city hotel on Thursday where she was violated at gunpoint. Police said they have received "some leads from her medical report".
ACP Agra, Hemant Kumar, said, "A case was registered against the accused under BNS section 70 (1) (gang-rape) following a complaint by the woman at Rakabganj police station on Friday. We're probing all her claims."
In her complaint, the woman stated the two men stepped onto her auto to go to a certain place and during the ride, they claimed to be "Army jawans". They also wanted to help her daughter and exchanged phone numbers with her. They then provided her with a hotel address and asked her to drop by for her daughter. When she visited the hotel, they took her to a room and raped her at gunpoint, and threatened to harm her child if she approached the cops.
A police team, investigating the case, went to the city hotel, collected details of the accused and found that they were purportedly from Bulandshahr. A team has been sent to the town as part of the investigation, police said.
